As I wrote earlier we're in Stratford-upon-Avon. This evening we attended a performance of Romeo and Juliet at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre. Before the show we had dinner at the restaurant above the theatre. Very good food and a local beer that I really enjoyed.
Mad Goose had a nice mix of flavours and came in an appropriate glass.
The play was very good. There were some very young actors and it was in modern dress with a simple set. I've not actually seen the whole play before. It takes me a little while to get into the dialogue. It has a certain rhythm. It's not just a love story. There's a lot of violence too. Very emotional at times, but there also some humour.
It was nice stand outside during the interval, but it was raining when it finished. We had a short walk back to our hotel.
These long corridors remind me of the movie Inception.
Earlier we took a walk and crossed the Avon on a little ferry driven by a man winching a chain. As it's Shakespeare's birthday we also had a man reading his sonnets to us.
It's been a great day. I was here last year with the family and many years ago I saw a production of Comedy of Errors here. They get a lot of tourists, but it is a historic place.
