New England Pale Ale
Vermont helped incubate the New England IPA style, and Elaborate Metaphore by Burlington Beer Company is one of my favorites.
16 ounce can; 4.5 abv
It pours a dull yellow, very hazy and opaque. A bright white head forms, leaves light lacing and disappears rather quickly.
The nose is delightful—fruity, juicy, guava.
The mouthfeel is pillowy and thick. The juicy flavors are balanced by an aggressive bitterness. It finishes dry, leaving you wanting more.
The label, which recently underwent a slight redesign making the name of the beer more readable on the shelf, has an interplay of colorful, curving lines.
The label reveals the canning date of 4/20 (surprised it’s not dank). Almost a month later, it holds up well.
Cheers!!!
