Who does not know the song "Beauty and the Beast" or "Colors of the Wind" from the movie Pocahontas. There is a figure that can not be separated from the success of the songs from Disney output movies such as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Hunchback of Notredame, orTangled. He is Alan Menken, a composer of stage music and films as well as a pianist who creates songs from the animated films. At the D23 Expo at the Anaheim Convention Center, Aneheim, California, Menken gave a special offering to Disney fans on Sunday (16/7/2017). In a concert titled "A Whole New World with Alan Menken", Menken sings songs of works he has made since he started his career as a musician. The concert was opened by actor Zachary Levi, starring Flynn in the Disney animated film production, Tangled. For information, Levi and his Tangled opponent, Mandy Moore, duet in the song "I See The Light". Starting the concert, Menken tells about his childhood. Menken said he came from a dentist's family. His grandfather dentist, father, and uncle also work the same. Nevertheless, he is more interested in music. He also practiced piano and started creating songs. While telling of his life, Menken also sing his own songs of his work. No guest star other singers who ever brought the song. The man born July 22, 1949 was only accompanied by a grand piano on stage. There is an interesting story told by Menken. When he won his first Oscar thanks to a song from The Little Mermaid, Menken actually got a Razzies Award because of his song from the Newsies movie. He also recounted his memories with his songwriting partner, Howard Ashman, who died of complications of HIV disease. Their collaboration successfully spawned good songs for the movie The Little Mermain, Beauty and the Beast, and Aladdin. Along with Ashman, Menken won two Oscars. He collaborated with a rising stage actor and stage producer, Lin-Manuel Miranda. Alan Menken got a standing ovation from Disney fans.
