☀️Good morning my loves.☀️
It has been over 100 years since the Berlin subway was inaugurated with the Ministerial on February 15, 1902.Even today, Germany's oldest metro network is one of the most modern public transport systems in Europe. On 18 February 1902 finally drove the first subway of Germany in Berlin. The route was 11.2 kilometers long and carried the passengers from Stralauer Tor to Potsdamer Platz. Built by Siemens, its co-partner Halske and the Deutsche Bank.
Although intended as a means of transportation for the general public, the class gap did not stop at the subway. Those who could afford it comfortably cushioned in the first two classes - who did not, on slatted frames in the third.
Every five minutes, the new subway carried its passengers. Today, it's set to go every 90 seconds, though it does not usually do that. Around 1.4 million passengers use the Berlin underground on working days.
The Berlin Underground is one of the ten largest subways in the world today. It has a track length of almost 150 kilometers and connects 170 stations. The latest construction project in the Berlin Underground is the line U55, also called "Chancellor subway".
The only 1.8 kilometers long route connects the Brandenburg Gate with the main station - with a stopover at the Bundestag. The chancellor metro began operation in August 2009.
Really interesting. An article will follow soon.
Have a nice Weekend☀️
