Golden Gate Park in monochrome (full series)
San Francisco, CA, USA - 2013
I don't limit myself to one particular genre in photography. One of the most rewarding as well as challenging genres in my opinion is street photography. You never know what to expect, and need to be ready with your camera to take a photo in a split second. With my Nikon D800 that's not a problem - it's always ready and I can take photos without any delay. But that's a big and heavy camera so I also have an Olympus OM-D E-M5. It's much smaller than the Nikon, but the major downside is that it has a short wake-up time. Even though it's just a second or so, on the street that can mean a missed shot. That's why I always walk around with the camera in my hand (I have a handy hand-strap) and I activate the camera as soon as I think that an interesting scene might present itself, so that once I bring the camera to my eye, it's ready to go.
