In the first letter to the Corinthians the apostle Paul speaks about the freedom of conscience: "All things are lawful, but not all things are expedient. All things are lawful, but not all things edify. No one should seek their own good, but the good of others.
Eat anything sold in the meat market without raising questions of conscience, for, "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it" 1 Corinthians 10:23-25.
In this passage Paul is differentiating the teachings of the kingdom of God with the law of Moses, entering the kingdom of God is not related to the rites of purity and impurity of the Old Testament.
Moises wrote the Leviticus and in this book he established the rituals about purity and impurity, about what to eat and what not.
The kingdom of God has to do with living the spiritual gifts, not to fulfilling the commanments, or follow rituals of purity and impurity. The kingdom of God is an ethical doctrine. Jesus calls us to reject the heresies (forms of error) that take us away from the path of mercy and godliness.
Paul in the first epistle to the Corinthians he adds: "do it all for the glory of God" 1 Corinthians 10:31. What does it mean? Do it all for the glory of God means to do everything to increase the order and the perfection of the universe: "Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect" Matthew 5:48.
"All things are lawful", explain Paul, we are free to choose between good and evil, between god and money: "Good made man from the beginning, and left him in the hand of his own counsel" Ecclesiasticus 15:14.
But only what serves to the glory of God is convenient and edifying, that is, what increase the bliss.
To speak of the glory of God is to speak of the beatitudes taught by Jesus in the sermon on the mount.
Only the beatitude is convenient and edifyng remember to us Jesus:
Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven
Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be conforted.
Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled
Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy
Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God
Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of the righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:3-11.
