Hi Steemians! For day 4 of the #bibleliteracychallenge I've chosen 2 Corinthians 9:10:
This verse reminds me to study the Bible and to allow God to write His words upon my heart. When He does so, he gives us seed for ourselves and seeds to sow into the lives of others as well.
The parable of the Sower in Matthew 13 illustrates the importance of sowing good seed, and sowing seed abundantly. To do that, we have to have a lot of seed, right? Think of your seed in the form of Bible verses.
Thus, in 2 Corinthians 9:10 Paul prays to God to supply us with seed and multiply in ourselves and in others the seed that was sown.
What does it mean to sow seeds into the lives of others?
God uses us to speak His words to others, and His words have the power to transform us, or to produce fruits of righteousness. How do you respond to a friend who comes to you for advice? Is there usually a Bible verse stored in your memory that is appropriate for that moment?
The parable of the sower says:
Then he [Jesus] told them many things in parables, saying: “A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up. Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil. It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow. But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root. Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants. Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop—a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Whoever has ears, let them hear.” -Matthew 13:3-9 (NIV)
I've often thought about how much seed I have sown over the years. Will God one day say to me, "You sowed sparingly because you did not store in your heart the seed I tried to give to you?" My desire is that God will fill me with His word just as the farmer fills his own storage bins with seed.
I invite you all to this 30-day Bible Literacy Challenge! The goal with the Steemit 30-day Bible Literacy Challenge is to help you to memorize at least 1 Bible verse per day for 30 days.
