A Sumatran trogon is one of Sumatra's endemic, a distinctive hoarse chirping sound. This species belongs to a morphologically protected animal with a dark red stump, and on the top is bluish-green with a long-tailed tail.
Apalhatpactes mackloti (S.Muler 1835) has been difficult to find, often found standing upright on flat twigs and usually prefer a shady sauce shade loud voice. The Team Aceh birder has documented Sumatran trogon in Aceh region. A habitat of this boird in tropical rainforests of the mountains at an altitude range of 1000-2500 m. This bird's main food is a variety of insects such as grasshoppers and beetles. Sometimes it also eats caterpillars and fruits.
The status of this bird is increasingly difficult to find, Sustainability is increasingly threatened. Therefore, this bird has been established to be protected. Thus the state law is clear, that this bird should not be hunted let alone to be traded. In the IUCN red list this bird is labeled in the status of Concervation Least concern
