Last month I was able to take several pictures of the Black-necked grebe diving in the Inn River close to our position. We took several pictures of it and I am happy that I have now another bird species on my list. The black-necked grebe uses multiple foraging techniques. Insects, which make up the majority of this bird's diet, are caught either on the surface of the water or when they are in flight. The black-necked grebe forages mainly by diving from the water, with dives usually lasting less than 30 seconds.
We were really lucky that it chose to dive so close to the edge of the river so I could take several nice pictures.
