The Northern Emerald Toucanet Aulacorhynchus prasinus is one of the true gems of the tropical forests, and is a bird I've seen only a few times on my visits to Central America. This bird was seen near feeders at a restaruant near Monte Verde on my visit last spring.
There are severeal species of toucans in Costa Rica, but this may be my favorite.
I'm hoping to post more regularly again after I return froom Costa Rica in a week or so.
Good birding.
