As I struggle to think of a subject fitting for a first post (for maybe like 5 minutes), I realize I'll laugh about it a year from now, and I get excited about getting to write about whatever the heck I want!
How I landed on this site was kind of an accident. My profession is nowhere related to programming nor technology. In fact, I'm a makeup artist turned realtor. And if you asked me what I thought of Bitcoin a few years back, I would have responded with: what kind of hocus pocus coin are you trying to sell me?
As the topic kept coming up more and more, I honestly never cared for it. Until one day, a fellow realtor shared on Facebook an article stating that blockchain will eliminate any job that requires middle men. It was then that blockchain became relevant to me. For months, I tracked the values of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. It was suggested to me that the easiest way to get Bitcoin for a newbie investor was through Coinbase. Mind you, I never wanted to invest and I had no clue what Coinbase even was at that time. I went in blind because the thought of learning excited me! After that, I attended local meetups to get a better understanding of the technology.
From what I gather from my meetups, blockchain is still in its early stages. The best part of learning is understanding that you know basically nothing. It was a kind gentleman that introduced me to Steemit and although I understood a fraction of what he told me, I'm here and completely open to where blockchain has evolved. May my journey of learning continue to be filled with more risky investing and meeting more intriguing people.
