There is a DoS (denial-of-service) attack vunerability in the Geth software which was discovered by the developers a few days before the Byzantium hard fork.
Geth holds abour 75 percent of all ethereum nodes, but the vulnerability could leave these nodes susceptible to the DoS attacks after the hard fork.
Casey Detrio explained that the vulnerability exists from an oversight of one of the new Byzantium features. There is a high risk that this bug could be exploited by attackers who want
to take ethereum nodes offline.
