I recently did some work in Tanzania and needed to urgently send some money back home .........well it became a nightmare.
Being in the bush just outside a teensy weensy "town" called Karatu I discovered how difficult this exercise is. After making some inquiries and doing the math - it became not only a very expensive exercise, but also fairly risky and since I had very little time and my circumstances were rather urgent, I abandoned my mission and got a friend back home to lend me some money to sort my problem out.
I wish back then I had known about Bitcoin - but still it may not have made much difference since the people I was dealing with probably also didn't know about Bitcoin.
Bitcoin is indeed life changing in so many ways and it is only with personal experience that one really begins to trust and acknowledge the value it carries. I really believe that the peer to peer aspect of Bitcoin is in it's infancy and has as yet not reached full potential and when it does - people will gain confidence and recognise the 'game-changer' that Bitcoin is.
I have for many years traipsed around the African continent, visiting, working and exploring and can think of so many instances where I could have made my life so much easier with Bitcoin. There are so many people in all spheres of life who could and would benefit - especially since most towns and even rural areas have access to internet. I really believe that the more aware they become of the currency the more it will be used. I am not sure at this time of the marketing aspect but I will certainly be talking about my experience to all my friends out there.
