Lightning Strikes The Google Play Store
Good morning Steemians and crypto enthusiasts! We have some pretty exciting news today if you are a bitcoin user, or interested in seeing bitcoin transaction speeds and fees down. As you know, lower fees and mobile usage are 2 of the main factors in Bitcoin gaining adoption. Ease of use would be the biggest factor and I think that is working itself out as new updates and software rolls out in the crypto space. Anyway, onto the story!
Eclair Wallet
As of March 4th, we have the first lighting network ready wallet in the Google Play Store! The wallet is called Eclair and was created by ACINQ, a Bitcoin tech startup. For you nerds, like myself, that want to take a deep dive into the project you can check out the ACINQ github by clicking here. The only real drawback I see is that you cannot forward or receive payments currently, the lightning channels are outbound only.
My Thoughts
Yes this tech has some drawbacks but it is another step in the lightning network and Bitcoin gaining more adoption. The more who use the lightning network, the lower the fees will get over time and the faster transactions will become. I think the next 18 months are going to be really big and I am excited to see more fun stuff like Eclair Wallet roll out.
Thanks for taking the time to read and I would love to hear your thoughts in the comment section! Have a great Thursday!
