What could such seemingly disparate things as a painting by Andy Warhol and a luxury automobile have in common? First of all, price: both the former and the latter are very, very expensive. And second… the crypto industry. A work by the world-famous American artist was sold by an art gallery in the United Kingdom using blockchain technology, having been previously tokenized and split into certificates. Luxury cars can also now be purchased using bitcoins in one of the largest dealerships in the USA. This approach does not surprise me in the least, in fact I imagine that we will soon be hearing more and more of this type of news. When talking about the purchase of a work of art or a magnificent automobile for hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars, it is easier and quicker for someone to conclude a contract on blockchain and pay in cryptocurrency than to write an enormous check through a bank and pay a transaction fee (to say nothing of lugging a suitcase full of cash somewhere).
The world has traveled the path from the hype around exotic “coins” to the purchase of objects of art and automobiles in just one year. Personally, I am willing to bet that in another year we will be able to buy coffee in our local coffeehouse using crypto. Are you willing to place that bet with me?
