Qtum (QTUM) is a blockchain platform for smart contracts and decentralized applications.
It’s unique in that it works with both bitcoin and Ethereum through its account abstract layer. To learn how that works check out the white paper.
Qtum launched its mainnet last September and now we’re seeing applications being built on the platform. Let’s check some of those out.
The coolest project, just recently announced, is that an indie movie is going to make its debut on the Qtum blockchain.
It’s a movie about hackers and stolen bitcoin no less.
The film is called “No Postage Necessary” and being produced by Two Roads Pictures. They are collaborating with Venue, which is a P2P video distribution app on Qtum.
The hope is that having the movie on the blockchain will help with piracy and the unauthorized distribution of intellectual property.
So Vevue is one application on Qtum. Some others:
Bodhi is China’s prediction market for the world. So it’s like an Augur or Gnosis, but some say Bodhi is better.
Space Chain is another cool project on Qtum. It wants to build the world's first open source satellite network, to enable a next-generation infrastructure for blockchain industry. It will of course use the Qtum blockchain.
BitClave also chose the Qtum blockchain. It’s building a decentralized search engine. If successful, you’ll get paid for searching and won’t have to deal with annoying ads.
There’s now over two dozen projects building on Qtum, check the list here.
Qtum is an interesting play here. It’s a lot farther along than nine months ago, but near the same price.
