I had been watching Bitcoin price action for a few months when it was under $1,000.00. When it broke that barrier I wanted to buy a Bitcoin. I created a wallet on my phone using Mycelium and downloaded an app that provided GPS directions to Bitcoin ATM machines in my area. Then, the day long drive began. I found a machine near me that was a one way atm, selling Bitcoins only. It was in a nearly vacant commercial building, only accessible around the back and down some concrete stairs into the basement? Lol, I had about $1500 USD on me. I went in and found the machine, I was not at all comfortable alone in this basement. The machine said "No Coins Available", so I high tailed it out of there.
The next closest one, according to my new atm finder app, was about a twenty minute drive. It happened to be on the campus of MSU. I went into the building where the machine was supposed to be and couldn't find it. I ask few people walking by and nobody knew what the hell I was talking about. I finally talked to somebody that said the machine was removed a week or so ago because it was malfunctioning. Hmmmm....
I checked my app for the next closest, ugh an hour drive from my current location. I was on a mission and it was a nice sunny day, I started making my way to the next one. I arrived at the address and it was a huge strip mall style shopping area. The app did not specify where exactly the atm was located. After asking some store employees, I found the smoke shop that housed the atm. Again, it was removed last week due to some kind of malfunction. Wow, strike three. Well, this isn't baseball and I was determined. Next stop Detroit, another hour from here. Sun was still shining....
This time I pulled into a Sunoco gas station. I walked into the small building and right next to the cashiers counter was a very cool looking atm machine. It was a two way, meaning you could buy or sell bitcoins here. At the time of buying, Bitcoin was at $1,255.00 making a new high. I quickly bought approximately one coin. It cost me $1,420.00 because of the exchange rate set up on this particular machine. Not caring of the cost, I started the process of verifying my Mycelium account and inserting twenty dollar bills one at a time. Yes, it took a while and people were looking at me like I was crazy. I received an email confirmation but no coin yet. I was satisfied so I left.
I was about to get back on the highway when my phone rang from an out of state number. I answered and it was a gentleman that was inquiring about the purchase I had just made. He wanted to make sure I wasn't getting scammed in some way and that I had some idea of what I was doing before releasing the Bitcoin to me. Although I didn't know what I was doing, I assured him that I did and that it was of my own decision to buy one. Bitcoin was received about 5 minutes after hanging up with him.
I've since found sites like Genesis Mining, BitConnect, Bitbond, Kraken and now Steemit. I know very little about these sites but they seem promising to say the least. The point of getting the Bitcoin in the first place was to play with crypto currency and learn as much as possible about it. I now have some Ethereum with no further cash investment. I did this using my original coin and moving some it to my Kraken account and buying ETH @ $44.00. I also purchased a small mining contract with Genisis. I am thinking about investing a little into BitConnect to see if it is a scam like people are writing on here, I'm not convinced it is.
I have been reading many of the post regarding BitConnect and most of them would like you to believe that it is a scam. I'm not going to argue whether it is or isn't a scam, I would just like to let you know my experience so far. I confess that I am very new to the crypto world, literally weeks into this now so I am definitely no expert.
Any information regarding these sites?
