I opened my graduate school seminar paper about cryptocurrencies with:
"Almost all of the many predictions now being made about 1996 hinge on the Internet's continuing exponential growth. But I predict the Internet will soon go spectacularly supernova and in 1996 catastrophically collapse." Robert Metcalfe, founder of 3Com, 1995"
My professor hated bitcoin, didn't care to keep an open mind to even hear what I was saying, and openly shamed me about it in class, saying I must have been using it to buy drugs or porn. I still chose it as my topic, knowing she wouldn't care much for reading the paper. My final grade wasn't so good, but I think the paper was great. I'll post it!
