1 satoshi per byte
It didn't last long and is up to 8 sat/byte now for next block but still dirt cheap and far cheaper than banks. It's what Bitcoin was created for, the ability to send up to $10,000 for less than 10 cents.
Why are they so low?
Exchanges are batching transactions which has dramatically reduced the amount of transactions needed to transfer funds. This has reduced the global transaction volume and made getting on the books a lot less competitive.
Average transaction fees peaked around $55 on per transaction and now less than $0.25.

Fees this low should attract a lot more users to Bitcoin and more importantly merchants.
