MEDIA Protocol. Basically, a way to watch "content" (you know, ads) but pay you directly instead of paying your network or second party.
It's a nice idea, but at first glance, it seems impossible to get off the ground. Let me prove you wrong. MEDIA works by distributing "Smart" URLs that can hold and distribute tokens. These URLs can not only distribute tokens, but can show how much money was used to promote the content, how many likes it has, how many comments, and how many shares. On the flip side, users can directly pay paywalls for content, or give tokens to content they really like.
CryptoCatnip
MEDIA runs through "CryptoCatnip" at the moment, which is an app on your phone. I tried it, and it has the format of tinder but with news articles. I couldn't figure out how to get MEDIA tokens (yet), so not that intuitive for the basic user. I'll bother the admins on telegram later like a good ICO investor. The interesting part of the app is that the news articles all are hosted on different sites (with different logins for now).
I hope that, for MEDIA protocol's sake, they are able to seamlessly integrate into our social media apps, to the point where if you have access to the MEDIA network, some ads will be MEDIA and some will be normal ads.
Their whitepaper is much more informative on the specifics, but the basics are all here. Follow them on telegram!
Did I prove you wrong? No? Good. You should be skeptical. Getting this off the ground is going to be a large task. If ICO followers get on the app, it will have a head start, but from there it's anybody's guess as to how they're going to chisel their way into the market. All I can say for now is that it's a good concept for someone who already creates content, it is also great for someone who loves using social media.
