I like reading about cyrptocurrency hitting the mainstream. My most enjoyable post was Dilbert trying to explain ICOs to his boss.
However not all cryptocurrency mainstream integration news is positive.
Enter "Cryptojacking." Cryptojacking is when your computer or mobile device is used to secretly mine cryptocurrency when you browse a compromised/infected website.
Traditionally, these intrusions would need to install software on your device. On the other hand Cryptojacking just requires hackers to inject scripts into websites.
The big story a month ago was the discovery of mining software on network cable channel Showtime.
Cryptojacking scripts can add to your processing load but it likely won't be enough for you to notice, which is why cryptojacking remains under the radar.
You can protect yourself by adding websites to you adblocking list or there is a Chrome extension called No Coin, created by developer Rafael Keramidas, that blocks Coinhive mining and is adding protection against other miners, too.
