The hackers were able to withdraw 7000 BTC in one transaction.
The 7000 BTC was the only transaction affected. It impacted the BTC hot wallet only (which contained about 2% of thetotal BTC holdings). All of our other wallets are secure and unharmed.
Binance will use the #SAFU fund to cover this incident in full. No user funds will be affected.
Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU).
SAFU, the Secure Asset Fund for Users is an emergency insurance fund. From July last year, 10% of all trading fees received were allocated into SAFU to offer protection to users and their funds in extreme cases. This fund were stored in a separate cold wallet.
Over a period of 1 week Binance will conduct a security review. During that time deposits and withdrawals will remain suspended bit trading will continue.
