Hello!
We are learning how to use Yours a bit better, and thought we would introduce ourselves and hopefully draw some more attention to our content. We would really like feedback on what the BCH community thinks we should be focusing on and how we can improve our content.
A little over a month ago, we had the idea to create an educational resource for users inside the BCH community as well as those who are new to Bitcoin entirely. We are committed to being a resource to improve everyone's understanding of Bitcoin as well as change the narrative as to what Bitcoin is: A peer to peer electronic cash system under a revolutionary new network.
We began recording podcast episodes just to see how it would go. We are really just two average joes working on this in between our day jobs, so we didn't expect it to take off to any degree. Ever since, we have been overwhelmed by a growing outreach of support from across the globe - something that has been humbling and surreal to see.
We have produced two articles on our website (and have published them here on Yours), one as an introduction to why we believe Bitcoin revolutionizes the banking industry and another that compares Hayek's The Road to Serfdom to the current Bitcoin ecosystem and analyzes the state of economic planning throughout Bitcoin's history. We are very proud of these two articles and look forward to producing more.
Our podcast episodes have varied in content and length. We thought it would be beneficial to outline what each episode covered and what we hoped to get across in each episode.
Episode 1: The Pilot
In this episode we really just started everything out. We discuss a lot of the themes that most BCH'ers are familiar with and hoped to fill a market niche of big-blockers who were sick of the other low-information crap you see out there in the podcast/Youtube market. Full disclosure: The audio quality is quite bad in this episode. There's really not much to say about this one, and while we think the content is good, we almost want to remove it in case it turns people off from continuing to later episodes. We welcome advice on whether you think we should remove it.
Episode 2: An Introduction to Bitcoin (Cash)
We hoped to create an episode that could be given to family and friends to teach them just what Bitcoin is from an elementary level. We were still new to podcasting, and we recognize the audio isn't great in this one either. We plan to re-record an episode like this now that we have gotten a bit more used to getting an episode to flow and so that we can have a higher quality resource for new users.
Episode 3: Network Topology of Bitcoin
This is where we believe things start getting good. In this episode we drastically improved the audio quality and dived very deeply into the network topology of Bitcoin. We examine the small-world properties of the Bitcoin network and why it destroys the Core narrative that user nodes matter in Bitcoin. We discuss the shortcomings of the mesh topology that Lightning tries to force onto Bitcoin.
Episode 4: Bitcoin Cash Projects and This Week in BCH
We deep dive into a lot of the projects that emerged on the BCH chain, including Yours. We have decided to make an introduction to all future episodes that dive into any new projects that are brought to our attention. If you know of projects that you'd like us to cover let us know! We also superficially discuss some of the current drama at that point in BCH, which revolved mostly around Selfish Mining and a recap of Satoshi's Vision.
Episode 5: Satoshi Nakamoto is Dead: Separating Ideas from Individuals
This episode is something we were proud to put out. We examine the Satoshi myth and why we believe that myth has to die. We argue that in order for Bitcoin to evolve, ideas would have be judged individually from the individuals putting forth the ideas, and why the censorship of certain individuals in the Bitcoin ecosystem is dangerous. Like Satoshi's whitepaper - the identity doesn't matter. Only the content.
Episode 6: Bitcoin and the Road to Serfdom: Analyzing the State of Economic Planning in Bitcoin
We break down the long-form piece we published on our website and why economic in planning in Bitcoin is the most dangerous thing we face. Economic planning takes many forms in Bitcoin, and it is our responsibility to understand Bitcoin well enough as an economic system to recognize when a protocol change reflects that planning. This episode breaks down Hayek's work and applies it to the history of the BTC chain and we discuss how we can remain vigilant in BCH.
Episode 7: A Conversation with Dr. Craig S Wright
We had the privilege of sitting down for an interview with Dr. Wright and we asked him a variety of questions. Unfortunately we were slightly unprepared for a good recording solution on Dr. Wright's end, but we think the content outweighs the poor audio quality! Note that the audio improves a few minutes in as well (as much as we could). We will also be writing out a transcript of this interview so everyone can read it.
That is what we have so far! We plan to cover many, many more topics moving forward, and we'd love to hear what you'd like us to cover. What are we doing well? What aren't we doing well? (Aside from audio quality :p) If you like what we are doing, please follow us on Twitter and help us spread our content! We want to reach as wide of an audience as we can, and our own lives get in the way of aggressive marketing.
We'd like to thank so many of those that have expressed their support for our content already and those who have donated to us. There are too many to list here, but seeing people spread our content has been extremely humbling, and we owe them a great deal of gratitude.
We look forward to bringing Bitcoin (BCH) to the world with you all.
