Cryptovoxels is introducing a new island to its virtual world called Proxima Tower. On this tower, which connects to Origin City by a long bridge, users will be able to buy 80 apartments. The developers postponed the auction of these new parcels for one day after encountering technical difficulties. However, Opensea lists the first parcels in the wallet of developer Ben Nolan.
The auction is only for 30 parcels. At the moment Nolan added a sandbox mode to the island. This way users can create stuff without having ownership over the land. However, once the auction goes live and a parcel has been sold, only the owner is able to make changes.
It's the first time the users are capable of basically buying an apartment. In Origin City the position of a piece of land was determined by it's length and width. However, in Proxima Tower also the height comes into play.
It's likely that these apartments will be cheaper than the pieces of land in Origin City. These land parcels sold for a minimum of approximately 400 dollars. But we need to keep in mind that there's a lot of hype revolving around Cryptovoxels and Proxima Tower. So predicting the price for an apartment in the tower is kind of difficult. Rest assured, it will be more than 200 dollars for sure.
What is Cryptovoxels?
Cryptovoxels is best compared with games like Minecraft, in which players get to build all kinds of things. However, where Minecraft is purely a video game, Cryptovoxels allows for all kinds of utilities. Currently this virtual world is mostly used for virtual reality conferences and so-named crypto art. On top of that users have true land ownership in this world, secured by the Ethereum blockchain.
Land value in Cryptovoxels has increased tremendously in the past two years. Ben Nolan started developing his virtual world in 2018, and had a difficulty selling the land parcels he offered on a weekly basis. Last month he reached a milestone as gamers, artists and investors have bought all land parcels in Origin City. Nolan accumulated over one million dollars with his blockchain project, and he's not finished yet.
With Origin City sold out, he's now looking at new island. Each of these island will connect to the mainland with a bridge. Proxima Tower is the first of these islands.
Anybody can visit Cryptovoxels. Just click here to go to Proxima Tower and dance to DJ Snake and Lil Jon. Users will automatically get an avatar. Once they for example connect their Metamask wallet to the game, users can register user names, buy wearables, or even acquire a land parcel. Nolan also had a lot more ambitions for Cryptovoxels, more about that here.
