August 26, 2017 was the third class of my newly formed pop-up Bitcoin School KC. I think about 10 people attended.
The topic of this class was "What is a blockchain?"
Local Steemians who attended included: ,
and
. Several class attendees have yet to sign up for a Steemit account, and there were several newbies who have not attended any classes at all.
Here are some photos from the class:
And after the class, I began to wonder why I am bothering to create Bitcoin School KC......so I went searching on the web, and my answer came:
CLASS RECAP:
We watched several videos that attempted to answer the question, "What is a blockchain?" and the class agreed that Amanda B. Johnson's videos were the best. Franny, in particular seemed to enjoy Amanda's videos as I heard her squealing during certain parts of them. So, if you haven't seen Amanda's Dash School videos or still don't understand what a blockchain is, join me as I take you to them:
and part 2:
What I really like about Amanda's videos is that she's incredibly good at explaining stuff to noobs, but she also has a biting sense of humor.
After watching these videos, the newbies in the class began to nod their head that they understand the concept of blockchain! I could see some wide eyes in the class.....as I could tell some would soon find themselves smack in the middle of the rabbit hole.
I talked about the fast expansion of crypto nations that are now in existence and which are forming at a rapid pace, and also talked about the many Steem clones in existence: Golos, the Russian Steem, Yoyow, Chinese Steem and Alis, the Japanese Steem clone (ICO in September 2017).....are there any others I am not aware of?
After going deep into the rabbit hole, explaining that 15 newly formed crypto hedge funds are about to be launched soon, and discussing the rapid developments of new ICOs, it was time to see an actual Bitcoin miner in the flesh! And showed us his and explained how it works. He's part of Antpool so this was an official Bitmain Bitcoin miner from China.
It was really cool to see a real live Bitcoin miner:
I had a chance to visit and interview him about his Bitcoin miner, so here's that video:
After this, we had a bit of time to socialize and learn new info. I took time to show how the Bitpay app works in conjunction with the Bitpay Visa card.
I also created a video that explores some themes we covered in class:
The above video explores some themes like: compassion, division, new ideas and other kind of ethereal topics that are related to the concept of blockchain technology and the future.
Come to the next Bitcoin School KC class which will be at 1:00 - 3 pm on Sept. 9, 2017 at 4334 Troost KC, MO. This class will be a support class, meaning that everyone can sign up for Steemit acccounts, download Bitcoin wallets, and do hands-on stuff that requires help. We will spend the entire class actively trouble shooting. Advanced students are encouraged to help noobs.....
Also stay tuned because we will have an upcoming Movie Night, a free event with popcorn.....
Cheers,
Stellabelle
