As a flâneur, I experiment with different creative mediums. In 2009 I was making my own music and directing my own videos. In this completely underrated music video I directed, after the economic collapse in 2008-9, I was undergoing a radical transformation, and realizing that corporations were not the answer to my needs. I was making the shift away from companies, and towards being more self-sufficient.
In this music video I burn a $100 dollar bill. Was this something that I predicted? After the recession, I noticed that rich people who found themselves now broke (like real estate agents) were paying attention to me because they could tell I was not upset or ruined. I was poor, so i lost very little in the recession. But I gained a deep understanding that the system was somehow rigged. It was a big shake up in my consciousness.
This video represented that time in my personal shifting consciousness, away from corporations, and towards creating my own future. Burning the dollar bill signified this shift in me, and oddly, I am now living without being part of the dollar economy. Bitcoin was just born around this same time I made this video. That's weird to think about.
