-Bitcoin rises and update defenders celebrate armistice
-Miners and developers were having a heated debate over how best to upgrade the software, which culminated in the recent quarrel
-Tokyo / Hong Kong - Bitcoin supporters celebrated when the developer community adopted a new mechanism to improve the use of currency and allow it to scale up, giving more confidence to the virtual currency and raising prices to an almost record level.
-The community, which was divided on how best to make the encrypted currency more manageable, adhered to a code update known as SegWit2x, which aims to increase network transaction capacity.
The move boosted the price of bitcoin against the dollar. The digital currency had fallen from the peak recorded in June due to the greater concern with its future in what had been called a civil war.
"We are very happy to overcome this impasse," said Andrew Lee, chief of the startup purchasing bitcoinspurse.io, whose team celebrated with beer in the San Francisco office. The decision opens "the doors to long-awaited innovations," he said.
Bitcoin fans in cities like New York, San Francisco, Hong Kong and Tokyo gathered in bars and offices for impromptu parties while others used Twitter and social networks to celebrate the decision and the price increase.
