Bitcoin has avoided disintegration into two separate crypto-currencies.
The community of crypto currency users bitcoin activated the process of Segregated Witness (SegWit) implementation in the bitcoin protocol. Eighty percent of the miners signaled during the required period of time their desire to activate SegWit via BIP-91 (Bitcoin Improvement Proposal) - a "soft" change in the bitcoin protocol, and on July 23, almost 98 percent signaled that they already use SegWit.
