First, your chart was good, congrats!
Second, no reason to be sorry. This is what markets are.
I would suggest one thing. Forget forecasting, no one can predict anything...
But your chart was good, you defined consolidation and potential spring move, which did happen. Good TA!
So, stop predicting, start defining possibilities (like you did, here is consolidation) then evaluate the odds, in this case would be: "we have a good chance for a stronger move in EITHER direction, so watch for a break out and try to join it"
Of course, you couldn't be sure stronger break out will happen, you can't predict that either, but you can point out that odds are better for something like this to happen.
So one prospective trader's job was to watch if move does start and if it does, then you try to join. See, this way you are following price action and evaluate the odds and try to use it in your advantage.
But if you are trying to predict something, then you are not listening to price action, you are telling market what to do. Who is stronger, you or the market? :-)
Bottom line, define important inflection points, evaluate the odds (if there are any at those levels) and let's market show it's hand. :-)
