🗞 Coinbase Launches Price Oracle Aimed to Reduce Systemic Risk in the DeFi Space

With around a billions dollars sitting in decentralized finance (DeFi) apps and protocols, Coinbase has started to provide a data feed for cryptocurrency prices to help keep those funds secure.

Available from Thursday, the San Francisco crypto exchange said the feed, or oracle, provides data from Coinbase Pro on the exchange rates for both bitcoin and ether against the U.S. dollar. It is further signed with Coinbase's private key, meaning that when shared across third party services and protocols, the data can always be verified as being from the exchange.

Coinbase Oracle can be pulled in by blockchain networks and, once there, can be married with other data feeds for use by in DeFi projects to carry out functions such as lending, margin trading, collateral liquidations, derivatives, Coinbase said in a blog post.

🗞 Cardano, Cosmos and Tezos Beat Bitcoin and Ether in Latest Weiss Crypto Ratings

In the latest figures released by financial rating agency Weiss Crypto Ratings this week, Cardano (ADA), Tezos (XTZ), Cosmos (ATOM) and Fantom (FTM) are the top coins by in the “technology” category, ranking above Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH).

Released weekly, the rating compares cryptocurrency coins in a number of categories including adoption, risk/reward and technology.

The list currently rates 123 coins and tokens with the highest overall rank only hitting a B+. The risk/reward column does not give any coin a rank above D.

🗞 BitMEX to Launch Bitcoin-Settled Futures Tracking Ether Price Against Dollar

Cryptocurrency exchange BitMEX announced a new Ether (ETH)-based futures contract on its trading platform.

According to an April 24 announcement, the new derivative contract will feature a fixed Bitcoin (BTC) multiplier which will be unaffected by the Ether price in U.S. dollars. BitMEX explains that this feature allows traders to long or short Ether’s USD exchange rate without holding either ETH or dollars. The announcement explains:

“Traders post margin in XBT [Bitcoin], and earn or lose Bitcoin as the ETH/USD rate changes.”

The exchange plans to launch the ETHUSD futures contracts with a maximum leverage of 50x on May 5, 2020. The firm promises that the “new product will be the only one of its kind available in the market.”

🗞 Bitcoin And Altcoins Consolidate Post-Rally Gains

Bitcoin price is up close to 7% and it surpassed the USD 7,500 level.

Ethereum is rising steadily towards USD 200 and XRP finally cleared the USD 0.192 resistance.

DigiByte (DGB) extended its rally by 40% and ADA is up around 20%.

In the past few hours, bitcoin price followed a strong bullish path above the USD 7,200 resistance. BTC/USD extended its rise and surpassed the USD 7,550 weekly resistance. It traded close to USD 7,750 and recently corrected lower. An initial support zone is near the USD 7,500 level, followed by USD 7,420. The main support is seen near the USD 7,200 level.

On the upside, an initial resistance for the bulls is near the USD 7,620 level, above which there are high chances of a strong rise towards the USD 7,800 and USD 7,850 levels.

🗞 Purse Reverses Decision To Close, Roger Ver 'In Talks' With the Company

Bitcoin company Purse reversed its decision and decided against closing its doors, after it was thrown a lifebelt in the form of a potential acquisition.

"Several parties - including well known bitcoin advocates, high volume users, and established cryptocurrency companies - reached out with interest in acquiring purse.io," yesterday wrote Purse support manager Eduardo Gomez in an official post on their website writes support manager Eduardo Gomez. He did not elaborate who the potential bidders are. Their website also states that they've received "numerous inquiries from parties interested in continuing Purse under new leadership."

Meanwhile, Roger Ver, prominent Bitcoin Cash (BCH) supporter, said in a video that "Purse is too important for the ecosystem to let it disappear so I don't think it's going anywhere. I've been in talks with them a lot, so stay tuned for some more news on Purse.io."

The resistance line at 7340$ has been broken with volum and it is a very good news for the future days. This break could be the start of a new Up trend on the BTC. The next resistance line at already over 8k$ so we have now a nice space to confirm that up. A pull back on the 7340$ is still possible and would even confirm this change of trend.
