Millions stolen from Bithumb, South Koreans top Crypto Exchange
Bithumb, the words 4th largest cryptocurrency exchange has been hacked. This happened on the 29th of June with no further comment on how the intruders actually accessed and breached the Bithumb firewalls. Bithumb has released confirmation of this event on their website.
This cyberattack has apparently stolen 1.2 billion won affecting 31,800 Bithumb website users with their key account information being compromised from email , names and mobile numbers.
The company said they would pay up to 100,000 won per person, currently worth US$870, to members. Further damages will be compensated for as soon as the amount is confirmed.
I advise all crypto enthusiasts to enable 2 factor authentication and any other security measure as soon as possible . Exchange hacking is a point of weakness, just like Mt Gox and the Bitfinex hack.
0x, will be doing their ICO in August 2017 where their goal is to raise funds to tackle the centralized exchange dilemma with their concept of decentralized, off and on block chain exchanges
