[It feels a little funny doing a post like this because it's usually my friends like or
doing them because I'm too stupid to figure things out]
I'm sure many have noticed some changes in Bitpay... They now require a wallet before accepting BTC. Gone are the days of direct transfer from Blocktrades. Well I'm happy to announce that it's so easy that even a caveman (me) can do it. I opened a wallet on Electrum. Bitpay also has a wallet available but I selected Electrum because told me it's easy to use (and it is).
I still use Blocktrades to exchange SBD or Steem into BTC and transfer it to my wallet. Once it's in your wallet and you want to deposit it on your card here's what you do... but first this note of caution. Because of the amount of traffic on the BTC blockchain Blocktrades wants you to transfer $500 at a time (in my case that means saving up a bit) otherwise it takes days to confirm. Likewise, Bitpay wants you to deposit a minimum of $100. Ok you have your wallet open and your ready to go...
If you notice this is an old picture. Instead of an address, there's now a URL. Copy and paste the URL to the "Send to" or "Destination" box in your wallet and it should autofill everything else- on Electrum it does. There's also a slider that controls the miner's fee. I leave mine on default. It took about 8 minutes to confirm the transfer. If you're in a bigger hurry than that you can slide to max, but the miner's fee will be more.
I hope this has been helpful. I know that the past few days have been hectic in the cryptoworld. I still have a bunch of money out there that confirmed after 4 days but nobody seems to know where it went. This makes things so much easier and as far as I'm concerned the extra fee (Electrum is really cheap- that's another reason I like it) is well worth it. Good luck!
