Landing page for what, a specific user account? It may be good for some people but not everyone.
What type of user do you think this style appeals to? We need to get far better at UI / UX design, and learn how to first identify / define the target audience [for a given UI design] in detail, then validate that definition by polls and use case trials by individuals to whom you show mock ups, and evaluate how they carry out tasks. You will learn a lot about your audience AND your software's ability to provide the features & functionality that audience needs or wants to use to accomplish particular use cases.
That's how quality UI software is designed, or used to be designed. It's an expensive, labor intensive approach. These days it's rare to see UIs designed with such a focus on users and use cases. Most teams cut most of the user polling and validation of assumptions about who their target audience is or how that audience can best be served out of the design process. They rely on marketers that may have a better handle on users but often have no clue how to design software or understand the costs / tradeoffs involved.
A good quality UI design needs to be much more interactive than it is today from what I've observed. Quality of the end product requires a team effort where marketing AND engineering work together to arrive at the best way to address the needs of the target audience utilizing scarce project resources effectively to do so.
Defining and understanding the target audience is a crucial 1st step before any tool can be created to help that audience accomplish anything.
And let's not forget about the subjective and "artful" aspects of UI design either, the emotional appeal of certain colors and arrangement of information on a screen, the use of icons, symbols and animation. There's a lot of room for creativity in UI design beyond the realm of engineering the software that involve more psychology and understanding of human behavior.
