The interesting situation that you find when you're not working, is that you still have plenty to do - you know, all those things that you never had time for before.
Blacksmith Festival
On a whim, a friend is an active participant in using old world techniques, such as wood turning, black smithing, textiles, to get back to basics.
For me and my kids it was a super friendly environment.
For my son, he loves swords and the like.
He got to have swordplay with a few of the other children.
It was delightful to watch these nerdy kids sharing equipment, encouraging each other and talking about favoured beverages.
I kid you not, but the coversation went
Kid 1: Sometimes I like to have a little bit of coffee
My Kid: Nah, I don't drink coffee. I actually like to have some peppermint tea.
All this, while they hid within a tree.
For my daughter, she enjoyed hanging about, watching the old timey equipment being used & enjoying some relax time on the grass.
This energy & availability is very refreshing.
To mix with new folk.
I'm still overcoming some general anxieties as I wash off as much of the corporate world as possible.
Enjoy!
