The demand for electricity is increasing yearly as the world population is growing and more and more devices are in need of energy. The 21th century we are living in is marked by the theme internet of things with everything beeing connected. For the upcoming years, as blockchain will be adopted and connecting the world, it is expected that the energy consumption will also increase with that. As of today, most of the energy we use is coming from electric grids. Although the past few years have been led with great innovations, the energy sector is lacking a bit behind. Existing energy grids are namely build on an aging design with a centralized grid architecture. Centralized power grids are facing more and more challenges regarding safety, reliability, security and increasing costs. For that, soon a solution has to be found.

The Eloncity project is going to face those problems using the blockchain technology. Eloncity is trying to build up a decentralized energy design architecture with millions of self sufficient microgrids. By doing so, energy will be available at any time with the highest security standards and a way higher reliability than todays energy network. Through the blockchain technology furthermore Eloncity will use those advantages such as having full price transparency, which is nowadays mostly not given by the providers. Everyone who uses Eloncity and contributes to it, will make electricity virtually free, so the world can be power up with clean energy.

Roadmap:
As Eloncity will be a long term project, they have already planned their roadmap until the 4th quarter of 2022. The idea behind this project already have started back in the end of 2014. I'm sure a more detailed roadmap will be reveiled in the whitepaper and also after the ICO. My Opinion:
The project idea behind Eloncity sounds super exciting. Their vision of powering the world for free is super innovative, but also comes with a lot of challenges. Therefore Eloncity is in my opinion quite a long term project, which will take several years for worldwide adoption. But with the team behind the CEO Andy Le, I highly think that they will be able to revolutionize the energy industry, once their ICO will be finished. For that I'm currently already very excited for their ICO details to be launched soon, which also will come with a whitepaper for further information about Eloncity.
