DISRUPTING THE TRANSPORTATION SECTOR; A DAV’s PROJECT
Technology has come a long way in rendering improved and affordable services to people. These improvements no doubt did cut across the hardware and software sectors of the industry.

Remember the transition of cars from manual to automatic gear system; the development of unmanned vehicles? Now we’re talking about the future that has to deal with the development and integration of anonymous vehicles; transport related service providers, customers, etc. in a decentralized transport ecosystem. To be able to do this; DAV has taken a look at the developmental trends available; the challenges to be faced and now, look set to achieve the desired objectives.
THE DEVELOPMENTAL TRENDS
Below are the developmental trends in the transportation sector that called for the disruption according to DAV
- Increasing Passenger economy:
It’s expected that increased availability of unmanned vehicles will cause a drift from car ownership to a passenger driven economy. - Increased reduction in cost:
brought about by the use of drone usage in commercial transport. - Emerging use cases:
Success in live demonstration of drone airspace in Europe by AirMap, Skyguide, etc. the emerging use cases of unmanned vehicles by the Starship Technologies in Estonia, Flytrex in Iceland, waymo in America etc. forms part of the reason why this sector can’t be ignored. - Legal commercial use:
Increasing cases of federal and state legislations and licensing; paving way for commercial usage of unmanned services in transportation, - Open Source Vehicle Technology:
Technologies that enables computerized control of autonomous vehicles - Token economy:
This will be aimed as a means of payments in this blockchain based ecosystem.
THE DAV’s PROJECT
DAV is building a decentralized transportation infrastructure that will enable peer to peer, global transportation network, where anyone on the network can buy and sell autonomous transportation services using a token.
The aim is to make the transportation sector suffer similar disruption as the internet regime did; where sets of protocols were put in place; specifying how data ought to be packetized, addressed, transmitted, routed, and confirmed as received. We now enjoy the internet revolution as against what it was when centrally controlled by the government and DAV believes the same fate awaits the transport sector; likening the vehicles to the packets of data to be programmatically sent from origin to destination.
From the existing trends already highlighted above, there still lies some challenges which DAV is drastically working on to ensure a smooth take off of the DAV ecosystem.
These challenges include:
- Perception
- Localization
- Decision making
- Charging services
- Maintenance services
- Docking infrastructure
PROFFERED SOLUTION:
The DAV’s ecosystem which is inclusive and permissionless will provide economic incentives for the needed participants to join the network and enjoy its future growth in way that is no doubt scalable. Moreover; DAV’s plan of rewarding early contributors with incentives will no doubt erode the centralization which restricts the performance of transformative technologies from gaining widespread acceptance. The community of Dav’s ecosystem will no doubt contribute in making the project work.
WHERE WE ARE NOW
DAV is currently doing carrying out the Initial Coin Offering for the DAV’s token. Below is a pictorial representation of the DAV’s RoadMap Plan; showing you what has been achieved so far and the journey ahead of us.
