On the 12th of February, Microsoft published a post announcing its vision to adopt ethereum and bitcoin for its authenticator app. However, considering the power of these two technologies, I'm sure Microsoft will integrate Bitcoin and Ethereum with other features too.
The blog post reads:
Each of us needs a digital identity we own, one which securely and privately stores all elements of our digital identity. This self-owned identity must be easy to use and give us complete control over how our identity data is accessed and used.
On January 9, Microsoft restored Bitcoin payments. One can even redeem bitcoin payments worth $10, $15, $20 and more. However, bitcoin payments still have very high transaction fees, which makes use of bitcoin unfeasible.
Initially, the longtime tech giant will support blockchain-based decentralized IDs (DIDs) through the Microsoft Authenticator app. Litecoin is also tagged as a suitable platform for DIDs apart from ethereum and bitcoin.
