I had been smoking copious amounts of hash in a house around the corner from Osama Bin Laden's (alleged) house when I joined the Steem blockchain back in January. It was perhaps several months prior to that moment when I had read someone talking about it on Reddit. I bookmarked Steemit, and somewhere inbetween a drug binge in Pakistan I found the time to check Steemit out. My first post (one of my poems) made $15.92.
"What is this? Can it be real?" I just couldn't believe it.
It wasn't the reward, but the economics of the system that blew me away. The rewards were also fun though.
I've learnt a lot about blockchain technology from using Steemit. It has also exposed to me to many new ideas I would not be preseted with by the mainstream media. As someone with a science research degree I love reading papers. The whitepaper of Steem seemed good to me, but the Smart Media Token's offer a whole new multi-level; an easy access to use/experiment with the "proof of brain" economics allowing people to easily create tokens and develop their own systems. I always think that with blockchain when you apply it to something you are going to see beenfits/improvements in things you haven't thought of. Smart Media Tokens are going to be a potent force.
Watching the growth of blockchain technology has blown me away. I think it will be mainstream by 2025, but all conservative estimates I keep making about blockchain and cryptocurrency keep getting blown out of the water. I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes mainstream within the next three years.
I have always been mega positive about Steem, because of the tech and the economics, but now it feels as though it is over 9000!!!!
Anyway blockchain technology has completely transformed my life, goals, and aspirations. It has even changed how I view the world.
I see the future, and it is Blockchain.
