Blockchain Keeps Getting Implemented Via Smart Government Adoptions
Sweden has always had a massive reputation for being open minded when it comes to its governments way of conducting business. So its not too surprising to me to see that they are starting to get more ahead with the Blockchain benefits withing this amazing technology. More governments need to watch these countries that benefit from such improvements, and I hope this new land ownership blockchain in Sweden called Lantmäteriet will show the world that government does not need to be centralized and closed source to its people
Lantmäteriet is the land registry of Sweden, recently they have switched over full force towards utilizing blockchain technology to register land and properties for Swedish citizens. Mats Snäll, Lantmäteriet’s head of development has openly state that the land registry office has investigated and invested in blockchain technology starting back in 2016. Since they have developed a proof-of-concept Blockchain platform which they feel will give land and home owners a more transparent partnership with their government.
Mats Snäll said this of this movement forward with blockchain technology:
“When we heard about Blockchain and its supposed benefits, we wanted to explore whether this is an actual next-generation technology we could use for registries. We have to try it on a wider scale and have more partners to see it also works with a larger number of transactions, but we haven’t come up against anything so far that argues against this technology.”
Blockchain Providing Tax Payers With Savings
Due to the nature of this move towards hosting home and land owner records on the blockchain, its showing signs of also benefiting Swedish citizens with major savings due to the lack of needed expenses to store these records. In the long run its expected to help citizens and save within the government, so it appears we have just been shown that crypto blockchains can work well for both sides of the fence.
I commend Sweden for moving towards this first step in transparency for its citizens and embracing the advancements of crypto and its blockchain engine. Hopefully this spreads and will reach towards more empowered countries to begin the process of opening its closed doors to its people, because in the end an open sourced government is a government once again for the people and that is what it was always meant to be.
