Blockchain Voting... Will it save us?

I guess it's inevitable that blockchain and voting machines would be intertwined, but are there inherent dangers to a voting system that no-one really understands? By the time we can tell, will it be too late? Is it a hidden messiah? If this were already in place, would Bernie Sanders be our president right now?
