Blockchain gaming will be gaining momentum in the coming years. Many of the large projects being developed are still technically in a beta phase. Im going to isolate one play to earn game and show you how to get involved in the ebb and flow of the blockchain environment.
Splinterlands.
This is a play to earn game that uses DEC (Dark Energy Crystals) and SPS (Splintershard) tokens to have money (Liquidity) to allocate around to the various mechanisms of the game. The title play-to-earn means that you will gain DEC Crystals for winning in the gaming platform. Aside from the gaming element there are two other aspects to pay attention to. The card ownership feature and the rental potential of those owned cards.
What things should you learn before investing in such a game?
Sign up for the game. https://splinterlands.com/
Validate your account and request your Private keys. They will send you an email that will redirect you to the game. Save these keys somewhere, the Master Key is the most important. My recommendation would be to get an analogue password keeper. The RECZONE password safe on Amazon is great. You can use this to log all of your blockchain passkeys. This is very important for security.
Play the game.
You will need to pay for the Spellbook within the game. This allows you to compete in the season. Via paypal or you can pay via your metamask wallet if you are familiar with that already. The cost is roughly $14 per season (15days).
Get familiar with the game and play it for a week or so and feel it out. This is what I do for all the games that I invest in. You must determine if it has a use case or some type of functionality that will become popular. For example the owning of the cards in Splinterlands gives the possibility of a free trading market within the game. Which allows you to sell or rent out your assets. Like running a mini business within the game. Once you get familiar with the game it's time to learn the Hive Blockchain. In my next post I will show you how to utilize the Hive Blockchain and other website tools that you can use to optimize your Splinterlands returns.
