Art + Music +
I’m thrilled to have appeased the Gods of Block Mountain! announced the winners of their album cover last week and I was lucky to be among the artists selected.
In my opinion - projects like this one tap into some of Steem’s most unique and exciting potential. Through the incentives of upvotes and open calls, you can kickstart a project, mine the blockchain community for talent around the world, and build a team that would have never existed otherwise.
BLOCK MOUNTAIN is a collaborative music initiative between DJ Lethal Skillz and Scuzzy Ruckus that aims to engage, strengthen, and invigorate Steemit artists and musicians. They're creating an album and drawing from the many collaborative skillsets on Steemit throughout its production.
A Creative Commons for Music
These kinds of contests and open calls for contributions don’t just benefit the recipients, they also provide spotlights to both new and experienced artists that are finding their footing within the Steem universe. Through creative challenges, you can find new artists to follow, learn new techniques and styles. It makes the Creative Commons that much more dynamic and rich with collaboration.
I want to extend a humble thank you to co-founders and

Swinging back, here is my album cover proposal that takes on a grid-like pattern (using the original logo / BM mountainous geometry). I toyed around with the color scheme and textures. Ultimately, I landed on a kind of repeated grid that rotated around a couple times. The logo shape flipped upside-down reminds me of an abstracted chain-link. The grainy textures were inspired by earthy themes mentioned in their introductory post.
