have just launched one of the most generously rewarded competitions I've ever seen on the Steem blockchain: it's the operation mass adoption competition, with a 1000 liquid Steem prize pool, 11K SP delegation for three months, and some crazily large value upvotes potentially up for grabs. AND these prizes could increase!
You have until 12th of June to onboard as many new users as you can, and get them to do their first introductory post, and whoever onboards the most users wins 300 Steem, with 250 for second, and so on down to 100 Steem for fifth place, all generously donated by .
NB if you haven't seen it, do check out the steemonboarding website and direct new users to it, it's very good, and I'm not just saying that 'cos I wrote some of the scripts.
Summary of competition rules
- Onboard shed loads of people to Steem between now and June 12th - using any account creation method you/ they like!
- Get all of them to make an introductory post - saying why they joined steem, using the "newonsteeem" tag and tagging your user name in it
- At the end of all of this, do a 'proof of onboarding' post mentioning all of the people you've onboarded with links to their introductory posts. For this post you need to use the tags "HelloMassAdoption" and "blocktradescontest". (NB The original competition announcement post says this has to be done on June 6/7th, but I've queried whether that's a typo as it's 5-6 days before the June 12th deadline!)
- NB - there is an additional requirement that you have to be part of a community on Steem to take part!
Please check this post (same as the link above) for more details of the compeition rules - NB that post ALSO contains a video overview with the ever charming
This is a win-win-win competition
- The Steemians doing the onboarding win - the winners obviously win in terms of Steem, but everyone taking part with onboarding will get something because all of the 'proof of onboarding posts' will be rewarded with upvotes from
and
.
- The new signed up users win because they get Steem accounts, get directed to the Steemonboarding website to learn about Steem, and get nice upvotes from
and
for their intro posts!
- The rest of us all win because some of these new users are bound to stick around and buy up some steem!
What can the rest of us do to support this and make it a success?
There's not a great deal of point onboarding new users if they don't stick around, and that's really where the rest of us come in, so I guess we can:
- Take part! If there's anyone you half suspect might be interested.... now's the time to get them onboard, as there's Whale votes to be had for the next three weeks. Just don't take the piss!
- We can keep an eye on the relevant competition tags (above) and comment and upvote new users posts. NB - there are some phat curation rewards to be had if you get in before the Whale votes!
- Actually follow a couple of these new users and carry on commenting/ upvoting IF we like their stuff.
- Maybe delegate to some of these new users for a month or so in order to raise their starting 15SP up to 50, which allows them much more scope to actually interact.
Finally - I'll buy 1 SBI share for competition entrants for every person they onboard*
Just as a little extra motivation, although I can't hand on heart say this is altruistic, i also win out of shares! Still, it keeps up the winning theme.
*Up to a maximum of 200 SBI. Also, a maximum per person of 20SBI, to make sure there's some kind of horizontal distribution if we get crazy numbers from some entrants. To be handed out on a first come first serve basis - that is the first people to post their proof of work posts get them!
