Instagram still automatically turns on the button that gives them permission to use your content shared on the platform for their machine learning. However, you can opt out from the feature while X introduced something that can't be opt out. It's even mentioned on the ToS that this stuff is allowed.
TL:DR
X added a feature where users can "edit" another user's posted image while using genAI. This means users who use their own OCs and real faces can be targets. It just made the cons of genAI more feasible. This is already causing a trend of artists leaving X for alternatives like Bluesky or Instagram.

I'm just pissed that the discovery of new artists became harder now that there's one popular platform that turns the creative crowd away. I don't save my favorite artist's works because I had the security of visiting their accounts and appreciate their stuff as is. But now I see some of the accounts I follow have wiped out their gallery.

I don't like genAI. I don't like artists that surrender their creativity to machine learning to do the creativity for them. But you do you. The tech is inevitable. It's just choosing the lesser evil now.
The real game is on Threads. Instagram works if you reel everything. But the close to sincere encounters happen in threads where there are less bots and more genuine conversations happening in the art space.
Thanks for your time.
