The reputation of your account is the way that you get more respected by other users before they know you (because it also appears in front of your nickname on your comments and everywhere). So naturally it's very important that you keep that number high!
La reputación de tu cuenta es la manera en que consigues que otros usuarios te respeten más desde antes de conocerte (ya que también aparece adelante de tu apodo en tus comentarios y en todos lados). Por ende es importante que mantengas tu reputación alta!
You get that number based on how many people with a good reputation upvoted your content. This is the way that the platform (and people) knows that your content is worthy and that you are a respected user from Steemit.

Esta es la manera que la plataforma (y los demás usuarios) saben que tu contenido es valioso y que eres un usuario respetado de Steemit.
