I had some nice plans with the misses today, it isn't often we get to go out and have a bite to eat together.
As we got in the car to take the kids to my mums I could smell gas, and it was strong, I was a little worried and phoned the gas emergency number to report it.
while on the phone I was asked a number of questions.
Could I smell it in the house? NO
Could I smell it outside my door way. NO
Where could you smell the gas then? I could smell it in front of my house and it was so strong I couldn't breath.
"don't worry" The lady said, "someone will be with you with in the next hour"
I then explained that I had to go out and would it be a problem, she replied back to me, that I shouldn't have to be in the property if the leak is smelled outside the house.
Great, I thought and on my way to my mum and then out we went, but after dropping our kids off and driving 20 minutes in the opposite direction of my house, the phone rang.
"We have used our gas detectors and we have found the leak to be in your house, can you come home so we can check further?"
WTF, gas in my house, why is there a gas leak in my house I said to my wife, and I quickly turned the car around and headed back home.
The guy, was a legend, he talked me though what he was doing and told me with the readings he had and the fact my meter had a 2 bar drop I had to be capped off.
Oh no, I had a gas leak and now they are cutting me off, what do I do?
I phoned my letting agent who sent another gas fitter to my house to find the leak, he was at it hours and he finally found the leak, it was a hookup that connects my oven to the mains, it was pre-installed many years ago.
By this time it was coming to 5pm and I knew we were not going to be able to go out like we wanted, but I was happy that the leak was found.
He fixed the leak and on his was he went, we were happy that the leak was found and we now relaxing after a long day of waiting.
