Tonkinese are beautiful, medium-sized cats that are surprisingly heavy and muscular. Their fur is short and soft but silky.
These little short-haired cats are a crossbreed between a Siamese and a Burmese cat. The two breeds from Southeast Asia were crossbred in an attempt to create a cat with a moderate body type, a less irritating voice than the Siamese but with the loving nature and intelligence shared by both cat breeds.
Their coats are known to come in 4 base colors; natural, champagne, blue, and platinum. They are known by their aqua blue eyes. The Tonkinese is now recognized officially as a natural cat breed as it was discovered that they have existed since the 14th century.
This breed is especially playful and lively and should only be considered by those who want an interactive cat companion. Tonkinese get along with children and other breeds of cats and dogs.
