An amazing thing happened last week on April 25th!
The US House of Representatives UNANIMOUSLY passed (Yes - UNANIMOUSLY ) by a vote of 415-0, H.R. 5447 (the MMA or Music Modernization Act.) Politicians never vote UNANIMOUSLY on anything, so it is very heartening to see that they are all for a modernization of copyright IN FAVOR OF THE MUSICIANS! If you want to read what they signed, take a peek here
This Bill now needs to pass the Senate in order for it to be written into law. Please support musicians by contacting your US senators to let them know that they have your support! It is so easy to do. When you enter your zip code, a letter is immediately drafted for your senators. All you have to do then is hit the send button. I have sent my support for musicians. If you are in the US, you can also support them by contacting your senators here.
The Copyright Alliance does a tremendous job of supporting us all. They would love your support too. Look what we can do when ALL ARTISTS are united! Without their tireless work the MMA passing in The House would not have been a reality!
Three weeks ago I wrote here about H.R.3945, the CASE Act (the Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement Act), a bill which help artists defend their copyright material in a copyright SMALL CLAIMS COURT. It was to have been voted on in the latter half of April, but because the House Judiciary Committee was very busy working on music reform, they postponed voting on the CASE Act, but the The Copyright Alliance anticipates that it will be considered sometime this month.
Please let your Congressional representative know that you support H.R.3945, which supports ALL CONTENT CREATORS! You can do that very easily here. Let's encourage them to vote UNANIMOUSLY on this bill too!
