Good day dear Hive friends, first of all I would like to welcome you all to my contribution and hope you had a weekend that was full of positive experiences! In my new contribution, I would like to address an interesting historical topic and hope you can expand your knowledge.
Here are some pictures that I have created with the help of artificial intelligence and are supposed to express the silversmith a little closer. The use of silver for the production of objects can already be traced back in history for a very long time, the designation as a silversmith as a own profession originated in the Middle Ages where silver had a particularly high priority and together with gold was one of the most important metals and at that time the goldsmith was mainly specialized for the production of objects made of silver and the high demand led to the fact that an own branch was formed. Traces of silversmiths can also be found in ancient Greece and silver was already mentioned at that time by some scholars such as Homer, who already reported that some objects were made of this metal at that time and one of the most mining areas in ancient Greece was Laurion, which was also considered an important source of other metals such as copper and others. On the whole, a silversmith used similar tools as a goldsmith for the creation of his works and mainly anvil, hammer, sickle and other tools such as files were used to give the works their cut and often other metals such as gold were also used to improve the works. In the Middle Ages, it were mainly nobles who used the services and the silversmiths made a good reputation at the time and were of great importance and even after the Middle Ages it was of great relevance and to this day there are some people who carry out the profession.
Many thanks for taking the time to read through my post and I hope you like it and can learn something new about history!
