View looking up Calle de Frederico Garcia Lorca in Alfaz del Pi, provincia de Valencia, Spain.
The Church of San Jose.
Should have done an audio recording as I was there for midday!
The church interior.
The pine tree holds a special place in the hearts of the village. The first one was planted in the 18th century and became the hub of village life so much so that when Alfaz won its independence from neighbouring Polop they incorporated the pine tree into the name of the village, hence 'del Pi'. The present specimen was planted in February 1949 and now no fiesta or procession takes place without it being centred in the shade of this tree.
The summit of Puig Cabana behind Alfaz del Pi rises to 1406m. I intend to climb this on my next trip here!
